Vet’s Sheet Metal – 85th Anniversary

It’s not every day a business turns 85! Vet’s wanted a casual but classy BBQ with a Grand Prix theme, since it was Grand Prix time in Edmonton. ED threw a great party with checkered linens, custom-made “racy” centrepieces, a mouth-watering BBQ and a live band. Guests were treated to a shop walk-through and a memorable presentation of the past 85 years.

World President’s Organization – Keeping The Heat in Alberta

Fred Singer, of Henry Singer Men’s Wear fame, was in charge of WPO’s season opening event in Edmonton’s in 2006. ED became his eyes, ears and hands to create Keeping The Heat in Alberta—a panel discussion featuring the mayor, the dean of the University of Alberta School of Business, and the chair of Edmonton Economic Development. This half-day event featured a round-table discussion, a Q&A period, and a fabulous dinner served by the Union Bank Inn. A great start to the WPO season.

Fisher Langford Jones – 10-Year Anniversary

This Edmonton strategic-planning firm wanted to celebrate their 10 years in business with something a little different from the usual speeches and cocktails. After some discussion, we found the perfect venue—the Alberta Aviation Museum. ED helped them coordinate the invitations, the food and beverages and the entertainment (Rapid Fire Theatre).

Edmonton Sunrise Rotary – Planes, Trains and Auctionables

Planes, Trains and Auctionables is the brainchild of Jeff Polovick and Tim Onciul of Driving Force. As Rotary members, they decided to create and host an annual event to support the Tourette Syndrome Foundation. A travel-themed live and silent auction put a twist on the old standard. ED helped design tickets, posters and other event materials. We also worked with the volunteer team and coordinated the event. Look forward to PTA 2008!

Campaign for Cancer Control - Alberta

It was April 30th and the event was to happen on May 27th… their Edmonton contact had left them high and dry. ED stepped in to help the National Committee market their event to an unfamiliar Edmonton territory. Since then ED has helped coordinate the first ever Cancer Day of Action in the Alberta Legislature and is poised to support future Cancer Control events.

I wanted to write and thank you once again for your diligence and hard-work in ensuring the success of the 1st Cancer Day of Action in the Alberta Legislature. This grassroots social mobilization effort really challenged experienced leaders in provinces across Canada – but your efforts in Alberta were an outstanding example of leadership in action. Your willingness to undertake an innovative new project with minimal supervision and resources was remarkable – but your ability to search out, find and engage others around the event demonstrated skills in research, problem identification, resourcefulness, flexibility. You have a skill at “cold-calls” and marketing that makes conquering cancer through social change look easy. I look forward to a long and productive working relationship and I know our organization can rely on you high-energy, high-skill, low-maintenance services for many years!
